I Wish!

September 06, 2023

In shadows cast by hidden desires,
Four wishes burn with unquenched fires,
A path where truth may softly sway,
To a world where innocence holds its way.

First, a talent for politics, I yearn,
Amongst friends, where truths oft discern,
To play the game, emotions aside,
Leaving others' feelings far and wide.

Second, innocence wrapped in ego's guise,
To paint opponents in darker skies,
Feedback's weight, I'd cast aside,
In the realm of right, forever bide.

Third, a heart devoid of guilt's embrace,
For friendships old, no time to erase,
A visage pure, deceiving all,
In the dance of friendships, never to fall.

Fourth, I wish I had a memory weak,
So I'd care not for the changes they seek,
A heart so cold, devoid of grace,
Using others as tools in this endless chase.

But in these wishes, a truth unfolds,
A path unkind, where the heart grows cold,
Let's strive for warmth, in empathy reside,
In kindness and love, let our hearts be our guide.

So let us seek a different way,
Where truth and kindness gently sway,
In this world of ours, let's endeavor,
To make each heart a place forever.
